Is Markdown Editor free?

Yes. Editing, preview, exports, sharing and the built-in AI are free. You can also add your own API key for OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Groq, DeepSeek, Qwen, NVIDIA Nemotron and others.

Where are my documents stored?

In your browser or app on your device, so it works offline. If you create an account, documents also sync to the cloud so you can open them on other devices.

Can I convert Markdown to Word or PDF?

Yes. Export a real Word .docx with headings, lists, tables, code and diagrams, or a PDF, HTML page, LaTeX file, EPUB e-book, PNG/JPG/SVG image or MP3 audio.

Can I open Word or PDF files?

Yes. Upload .docx, .pdf, .html, .csv, Jupyter notebooks and code files — they are converted to Markdown automatically. Images, audio, video and other files are attached to your document.

Does it support Mermaid diagrams and math?

Yes: Mermaid, Graphviz, PlantUML, D2, Vega-Lite charts, mind maps, WaveDrom, maps and sheet music, plus KaTeX math with $...$ and $$...$$.

Is there an Android app?

Yes. Download the Android app from the menu; it opens .md files from your file manager and syncs with your account.

Can it work with Grammarly?

Grammarly no longer offers an SDK for other apps, so Markdown Editor includes its own grammar checker (LanguageTool) and AI grammar fixing. Turn on Plain text mode in Settings to use the Grammarly browser extension.

Is it free?

Yes — including the built-in AI, exports, sharing and sync. Bring your own key for premium models.

Where is my data?

On your device (IndexedDB). With an account it also syncs to Cloudflare D1. Password-locked documents are encrypted before they leave your device. See the privacy policy.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Install it as an app from your browser menu or use the Android app. AI, voice and kroki diagrams need internet.

Grammarly?

Grammarly retired its SDK for third-party editors, so we built in LanguageTool grammar checking. Turn on Plain text mode to use the Grammarly browser extension.
