context-vault

One memory for all your Claude accounts.

Switching Claude accounts loses your chats and memory. Context Vault is a free, local-first MCP server that keeps one shared store of memories and full chat history, so any account on any device picks up where the last one stopped.

01

The problem it solves

Claude chat history and built-in memory belong to a single account. With a personal account, a work account and a team account, your context is scattered. Context Vault keeps it in one place that no account owns, and every Claude client can read and write it through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Features

Cross-account memory

Save on one account, recall on another. Memories are shared by default or private to one account.

Full chat history

Searchable transcripts with deduplication. Resume or switch to continue an earlier chat elsewhere.

Every Claude client

Claude Code with automatic hooks, Claude Desktop, and claude.ai on web and phone through a connector.

Permission for everything

Each file, config and network access asks first. Review grants and an audit log at any time.

Cloud sync, one account

The same account as Markdown Editor and Diagram Studio. Optional end-to-end encryption, or sync through your own folder or Turso database.

Mesh multi-agent

A fixed-rule gate decides whether a task is worth splitting. Only then do parallel subagents launch.

Export and import

Zip, JSON, JSONL, SQLite or Markdown, checksummed. Import claude.ai exports and Claude Code sessions.

Guardrails

Duplicate detection, secret scanning, size limits, and recalled text labelled as data, not instructions.

03

Install on Windows, macOS or Linux

Requires Python 3.10 or newer.

pip install https://kunalyadav.co.in/downloads/ctxvault-0.1.0-py3-none-any.whl
ctxvault install all
ctxvault save "Editor" "I prefer neovim"
ctxvault recall editor

ctxvault install all registers the MCP server with Claude Desktop and adds Claude Code hooks. It asks before changing any file.

  1. Set CTXVAULT_ACCOUNT to a label such as work or personal for each Claude account.
  2. Claude calls recall at the start and save_memory at checkpoints. Claude Code does this automatically through hooks.
  3. On another account, run ctxvault switch work, or let Claude call continue_from_account.
04

Cloud sync and claude.ai

Optional. Your vault works fully offline without it.

Sign in for cloud sync and claude.ai

Use the same account as Markdown Editor and Diagram Studio, verified by a code sent to your email.

ctxvault cloud login
ctxvault cloud sync
ctxvault cloud connector

Create a connector URL from your account dashboard or with ctxvault cloud connector, then add it in claude.ai under Settings → Connectors. To upload ciphertext only, set CTXVAULT_CLOUD_ENCRYPT=1 and CTXVAULT_PASSPHRASE; encrypted items are then searchable only in the local app.

Frequently asked questions

How do I share memory between multiple Claude accounts?

Run Context Vault as an MCP server for each account and label each with CTXVAULT_ACCOUNT. All accounts read and write the same store, so a fact saved on one is recalled on another.

Can I continue a Claude chat on a different account?

Yes, as context. Context Vault stores transcripts and summaries and loads the earlier conversation into the new chat. It cannot write into another account’s native chat list.

Does it work with claude.ai on the web and phone?

Yes. Sign in, create a connector URL from your account dashboard and add it as a custom connector in claude.ai. Claude Desktop and Claude Code use the local MCP server.

Is my data private?

Your vault is a local SQLite file. Cloud sync is optional. With encryption on, the server stores only ciphertext. Without it, synced items are stored in this site’s database so the claude.ai connector can search them. You can delete your cloud data at any time.

Is it free?

Yes. It is free and MIT licensed. Turso and OpenRouter, if you choose to use them, have their own plans.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI apps such as Claude call external tools. Context Vault is an MCP server whose tools save and recall memory.

Context Vault is an independent project and is not affiliated with Anthropic. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic.
